We are absolutely thrilled to share the news that following on from being awarded 98 points and a Gold Outstanding award earlier this year at the International Wine and Spirits Competition, it was announced on the 4th October 2024 that Legacy has gone on to be awarded the IWSC Trophy for no age statement single malt Scotch!
The judges said Legacy had “succulent” aromas of lychee, vanilla and cinnamon, and a “fabulously luscious flavour profile with a heavenly finish”.
A Trophy Winner represents the best of the best, awarded to products that have excelled in the competition, and is awarded only to products that demonstrate exceptional quality beyond the standard gold or silver medals. The beverage must be near perfect in terms of craftsmanship, balance, and complexity.
The IWSC is the most respected global wine and spirits community, renowned for their expertise, influence and personal approach. Winning an IWSC award has never been easy. When IWSC was set back up back in 1969 by Anton Massel, quality control within the industry was not as strong as it is today, so the concept of testing – as well as tasting – every single entry was radical, and quickly cemented the IWSC’s reputation for stringent standards and an uncompromising approach to awarding medals.
Stephen Bremner, Managing Director of Tomatin Distillery, commented, “We have worked incredibly hard on our product range over the years; and we continue to commit ourselves to crafting the very best tasting Highland whisky, so it’s brilliant to be recognised in this way by IWSC”.
